Picture-in-Picture allows you to watch the video in a floating window on the same web page—this feature provided by stream websites such as YouTube, Twitch and more. Firefox PiP Toggle
In the latest update, Mozilla Firefox 76.0 added a built-in (PiP) feature for displaying videos in a floating window that can be moved and resized over the screen. The Picture-in-Picture toggle button appears when you hover over videos with the mouse cursor. It is a small blue rectangle that slides out when you hover over it. Clicking on the blue rectangle will open the underlying video in the Picture-in-Picture player window.
PiP feature is designed to work on most video sites that have an audio track and a sufficient length of play. It also does not work in the case of a full screen. The floating window contains the essential buttons to quickly play, Pause or closing the window and returning you to the tab that the video came from.
Enable & disable Picture-in-Picture in Firefox
- Go to menu and select Options.
- Scroll down to the Browsing section.
- Click check mark to Enable picture-in-picture video controls.
Chromium Browsers
Google Chrome does not have such a feature, but you can download an extension to enable this feature. Picture-in-Picture Extension provided by Google that allows the user to watch the video in a floating window over tabs.
